Why should Small Businesses send Holiday cards

Even if you are in the bah-humbug camp this holiday season, it’s important to mail, not email, greeting cards out to your clients this Christmas. Some say it’s old-fashioned to mail out holiday cards from your small business, but I beg to differ, and here are a few reasons why.

Everyone loves getting a card in the mail. It creates a feeling of joy and comfort. The recipient appreciates the time you and your staff spent thinking about them. While flyers and coupon mailers often get pitched, a greeting card tends to be saved. Cards have a higher emotional touchpoint because they activate feelings of joy.

Sending cards out during the holidays is a great way to say thank you to your customers for supporting your small business, especially when they are signed by you and your team personally.

The rubber stamp card that is stamped with your signature usually goes into the trash can, or might not even be opened, so handwriting holiday cards can again up the emotional touch points in letting your clients know that they are important to your business and gives them a feeling that kindness is important to you.

Here’s a tip: If you are running out of time this holiday season to send cards out, don’t despair, set a goal between Christmas and New Year’s to send New Year greeting cards out, touch on the past year, and share your vision for the new year.

When you send holiday cards to your clientele, you rise above your competition – a huge benefit. Greeting cards are a good investment that is reasonably priced. Great ROI is achieved because it’s more important for your clients to know you care than how much you know. Such a simple gesture goes a long way in the know, like, trust process.

When your client receives your greeting correspondence, it triggers an emotional touchpoint that increases their loyalty to your company in a big way – as the saying goes, little things mean a lot.
